On September 17, 2011 the Club held its first organized foamy pylon competition. The weather was ideal with mild conditions and a gentle breeze. The great conditions saw a total of 11 pilots step forward to compete. The format would be 3 rounds to be flown with a max. of 4 flyers in each heat. Flyers could drop their worst heat. Gcac has begun clearing a section of the "old strip" after getting the go ahead from State Forests. This will increase landing areas greatly, and since there are now a lot more larger aircraft flying from our field, should see for some more gradual appraoches instead of having to drop them in over the thicket. Unfortunatey this weekends Try and Fly has been postponed, due to the weather being less than favourable. Although the skies are supposed to be clearing by sunday, we still have a very wet field, it was inspected yesterday, and was very soft and puddles everywhere. The indoor flying event held on 11 August, was yet another success from Gosford City Aeromodellers. Although not as many pilots showed up this time (probably still repairing from last time), we still put on a great show and had a great time. Sunday 21st of October will see us hosting an indoor flying morning at the Central Coast Youth Club, 16 Washington Ave. Niagara Park (directly behind Niagara Park Shopping Centre) from 9am.
